Available to providers of the ACC community pain management services

Tertiary Support Request form

Australis Tertiary Support Services

Australis Specialist Pain Clinic is a Christchurch-based provider of ACC tertiary pain management services. This includes providing Tertiary Support Services to support ACC CS1 and CS2 community programs throughout New Zealand, and Tertiary outpatient pain management programs.

The Tertiary Support Service is to assist fellow clinicians faced with the challenges and complexities of helping patients with chronic pain.  Getting a fresh perspective or additional expertise can be beneficial in knowing how to move forward, as it can be difficult to get past assumptions for patients we know well.

The Tertiary Support Service at Australis Specialist Pain Clinic is available to provide that support for clinicians looking after patients who are on an ACC community pain service. Our experienced team can help you reflect on the situation, explore new treatment options, question existing assumptions, and identify potential barriers to progress.

Tertiary Support Services are flexible and funded directly to our clinic, so they don't impact on the community service budget. These services can be written advice, video conferencing, or case conference attendance, and may involve whichever members of our team are most appropriate to help.

It is important to note the following:
  • They are intended to support community clinicians, and do not involve direct patient care.
  • These do not replace the need to have a medical specialist assessment as part of a level 2 community service
To initiate this service we do ask that you complete a brief request form .  The request will be triaged by a member of our team, and further arrangements made.
